You Should Promote Your Products More on Social Media

September 18, 2018 Nate Elliott
Chart: A Sprout Social survey says social marketers think audiences want to see posts that teach, tell a story, or inspire; but really audiences want to see sales and new product announcements.

We’ve all heard social gurus say you shouldn’t promote your products in social media.

They’re dead wrong. According to the 2018 Sprout Social Index, there’s almost nothing your followers would rather see than “posts that showcase new products or services” — well ahead of “posts that entertain,” “posts that inspire,” “posts that tell a story,” and “posts that announce what is happening at a company.” Marketers wrongly think all those other types of posts are more important than product promotions.

So don’t be afraid to post about your products. It’s what your audience wants.
